This specimen features the rare uranium mineral zippeite from the D-Day No. 2 Mine, Thompson District, Grand County, Utah, USA. Several vivid sulphur-yellow aggregates of zippeite are scattered across the matrix, standing out strongly against the darker host rock. Zippeite is a secondary uranium mineral formed through the alteration of primary uranium-bearing ores and is sought after by collectors due to its rarity, distinctive color, and association with classic uranium localities. Despite its modest size, this specimen represents an excellent example of this uncommon mineral species from a well-known American occurrence.
