Description
This 25 g slice comes from NWA 869, an ordinary chondrite meteorite. NWA stands for Northwest Africa, a region in the Sahara where this meteorite was recovered between 1999 and 2001. The slice is part of a larger strewn field (~2 tonnes) and provides a direct sample of material from the early solar system.
NWA 869 is classified as an L3‑6 chondrite, meaning it contains a mix of lightly and heavily metamorphosed material. Its interior shows chondrules, metal flakes, and silicate clasts in a fine-grained matrix, recording thermal and impact events on its asteroid parent body.
Dimensions: approx. 70 × 55 × 3 mm
Weight: 25 g
Condition: Cut slice revealing the interior structure
