A specimen of cinnabar on a quartz and barite matrix containing tiny microscopic calomel crystals. This mine yielded numerous mercury minerals, some very rare worldwide, although most are present in very small quantities. However, their presence can be detected because calomel, in particular, fluoresces orange under medium-wave ultraviolet light. I found this specimen in the mid-1980s.
